About the Procedure

The procedure is done under local anesthesia; patients are laid in the lithotomy position. Hymenoplasty is performed by uniting the torn remnants of the hymen with dissolvable sutures, that take 15-21 days to dissolve. The technique requires the refashioning of the torn hymen tags and then stitching. A small space is left for the menstrual blood to come out.
